All student projects are designed to support student learning by involving them in an authentic situation and allowing students to create a solution to a real-world problem. All projects will give the students the opportunity to actual make a real change rather than just hypothesize about a possible solution. With these material, students will be able to see the product of their work and test its authenticity, rather than simply reading about others' works in a textbook or article.
Freshmen Project
The Freshman project is all about resource management and recycling. Students will research and address a particular recyclable material and discover ways to improve recycling efforts. Students will get down and dirty to collect data and suggest solutions to our growing landfill problems.
Sophomore Project
The Sophomore landscaping project teaches the students how to conserve water and restore habitat for birds and pollinators in the area. Students develop a landscape design and work to see their designs literally come to life when they plant their plants and watch them grow.
Junior Project
The Junior energy science project will require students to make ethical decisions in regards to use and conservation of energy. Students will focus on ways to make new PUSD construction more energy efficient.
Senior Projects
Each senior takes what they have learned throughout high school and created their own senior project based on the student's area of interest and passion. Because of this, senior projects are all unique and all students work a mentor in the industry to create/invent a solution to a complex, authentic problem in the career theme.
